I understand Dance as a question about the body. A question that is formulated and re-formulated permanently. My practice as a choreographer is shaped and defined by these consecutive, ever changing questions.
I am interested in uncertainties in my choreographic explorations. I do not believe any definition fully captures any experience. The vastness of the experiences vs the meagerness of our attempts to grasp them is the basis of my work.
The impossibility to fully represent or even understand the body are the basis of the continual exposure, manipulation, re-placement, dis-placement and any other operation I might perform on a specific scene, at a specific moment.
I can also say trauma is the seed of my work -if we understand trauma as a reality that cannot be fully apprehended-. How can we possibly apprehend the complexity of the contemporary world?
I would like to take the idea of trauma away from the secret and the confession. I am not referring to a specific event that has marked me in a specific way. I am addressing the very difficulty of representing reality.
I am referring to trauma as that void around which we revolve -like moths around the flame- the very impossibility that defines us as subjects who can speak or can move -or any other strategy we may come up with- in order to avoid annihilation.
